Yes, we had the clamav feature previously (patched into snort as a preprocessor). However, this has been removed quite a while ago due to patent issues. This thread has some more info:

Trying to make sense of the ITC documents is painful. It seems some of the claims and counter claims were retracted, but it isn't clear if Trend Micro fundamentally won or not at the ITC, from my reading.
Barracuda still has their legal fight page up, though that could be because their webmaster is lazy.

Sourcefire/ClamAV don't seem to have anything written either way but they still have documentation describing how to set up milter, which would be a violation of the patent.
I guess a clear winner/loser still hasn't been determined yet, or there is a private gentleman's agreement between clamAV and Trend Micro to not pursue this further or some nuclear patent portfolios would be unleashed. |

Excuse me for such a poorly explanation.
I know that this feature was removed due to those patent issues, I have read all post refered to clamav.
I decided to open this topic to have a light for me and people who want to add this feature by our own. I suppose that would be really interesting for many of us.
I'm newbie on linux, but have no fear on rummage with new systems and features.
At the moment I could install the latest clamav stable release 0.95.3, but I think that is not enough.
Regarding to Ouroboros comment, I'm agree with you, but suppose that Vyatta team had internal reason to took that way. |
