Well that's rather disappointing.

I've been looking for something that has a friendly cli as well as a gui and viyatta seemed like it was going to fit my need perfectly, but much to my surprise, the gui is restricted to paid versions now? I really want to like viyatta, but without even the possibility of a gui, I can't like it. I was hoping for a cli on the device and remote web gui when I'm lazy. Also, as a college student, I can't buy the paid version. Any recommendations of what to do or other distress that will fill my needs?

This has been discussed here before. Look at some older threads.

Really ?

I wonder what happens if you ask that to cisco certified engineer.

Maybe with M$ that is the case

Wow, that's some pretty blatant trolling right there :-)

You can always go for openwrt x86 version.

I't has a great gui, good basic performance if you don't need al the advanced stuff.

It's what i'm using now. installed it in 5 minutes after leaving vyatta because they dropped the gui.

FTFY

I like having a webif.

I find Vyatta's business model of building a buzz within the industry with a free version, then crippling that version to force companies to buy the commercial distribution understandable, but I'm afraid I'm not interested in playing.

This is actually strike two for Vyatta.

Strike one was when I was going to do a trial of the commercial version.

I was basically told that it wasn't worth the rep's time to set up - that I should go try the Community Edition instead.

I think not.
